Frequently asked questions
How do I draw a zone on my garden map?
Tap the Map tab and press the draw button. Choose a shape — rectangle, oval or freehand — then draw directly on the canvas. Tap a finished zone to set its type, name, sun level and other properties.
How does satellite view work?
Tap "Use my location" on the map screen. FloraPlot uses your GPS coordinates to load satellite imagery of your garden. Zones you draw are anchored to real GPS coordinates, so areas are calculated accurately using the Haversine formula.
What's included in Premium? (£2.99 one-time)
Premium is a one-time purchase that unlocks multiple gardens, shadow and shade prediction, AR Garden Scanner with LiDAR mapping, weather alerts, zone diary with photos, raised bed controls, budget tracker, and an extended 200+ plant database.
I bought Premium — how do I restore it on a new device?
Tap More → Plans → Restore Purchases. As long as you're signed into the same Apple ID, your Premium purchase will be restored at no charge.
Will my gardens transfer to a new iPhone?
Yes, as long as iCloud Backup is enabled on your device. When you set up your new iPhone and restore from an iCloud backup, all your garden data will be restored automatically. To check: Settings → your name → iCloud → iCloud Backup.
Which iPhones support LiDAR mapping?
LiDAR scanning is available on iPhone 12 Pro, 13 Pro, 14 Pro, 15 Pro, 16 Pro and their Max variants. All other iPhones can still use GPS perimeter walk mode to map garden boundaries.
Why does FloraPlot need location permission?
Location is used to load satellite imagery centred on your garden, and to fetch accurate local climate data, soil data and weather forecasts for your specific area. Location data is never stored on our servers.
Why does FloraPlot need camera permission?
The camera is used only for the AR Garden Scanner, a Premium feature. It is never accessed in the background and is not used for any other purpose.
The satellite map isn't loading — what should I do?
Satellite tiles require an internet connection. Check your connection and try switching the map source using the Source buttons above the map. If the issue persists, try closing and reopening the app.
The plant recommendations don't seem right for my garden.
Recommendations are based on your zone's sun level, your local soil pH from SoilGrids, and each plant's hardiness rating. Try adjusting the sun/shade slider on your zone, or check that your location is set correctly so the soil data is accurate for your area.
Can I use FloraPlot for a garden in the southern hemisphere?
Yes — FloraPlot automatically detects your hemisphere from your GPS location and adjusts the planting calendar, shadow calculations and seasonal recommendations accordingly.
How do I export my garden data?
Tap More → Export. You'll get a full summary of your zones and the plants assigned to each one. This is also useful as a manual backup.
My garden data has disappeared — what happened?
On iOS, your data is restored automatically from iCloud Backup when you set up a new device. On the web app, data is stored in browser localStorage — clearing browser data or uninstalling the PWA will remove it. Use More → Export regularly to keep a manual backup.
Can I request a refund?
Refunds for in-app purchases are handled by Apple. Visit
reportaproblem.apple.com to request a refund through Apple's standard process.
